Writing Reference Books and Interesting Writing Reads

October 1, 2014

booksThis is the last in a series of posts on self publishing basics.  So far we’ve covered some writing and self-publishing how-tos, some tips and thoughts, and the 10 historical romance novels you should read if you’re considering writing in this genre.  Next I want to talk about some books on writing that you should read.

And this list is going to be incredibly short.

Why?

I don’t want you to waste your time reading books on writing.  The two things you should be doing are writing the next book and reading the latest award winners and best sellers in your genre.

So here you go.

Books on craft: The only one you need is Goal, Motivation, Conflict by Debra Dixon.

For self-publishing and running a writing business: The Naked Truth About Self Publishing

For fun: On Writing by Stephen King

That’s it.  Seriously.  Now go write the next book.
