I fell in love with Audrey Hepburn on Thanksgiving Day.
This seemed like a good topic for today as it’s Thanksgiving here in the US. I hope you are all able to celebrate with those you love.
Audrey Hepburn had a magnificent heart, earning the Presidential Medal of Freedom for her work as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador. But it was before I knew all of this that I fell under her spell. It was while waiting to go to Grandma’s house on a cold, blustery Western New York Thanksgiving Day, that I happened upon my dad in the living watching Breakfast at Tiffany’s. My love for classic movies was cultivated at a young age, and I instantly plopped down to watch. I’m so glad I did.
Audrey had a way of speaking that captured no identifiable accent (she spoke several languages), and while her beauty proceeded her, her posture is what struck me. Her slim shoulders appeared to carry anything with ease.
Audrey would become the model for the heroines of my novels although they’ll never do her justice.
Today I give thanks for influences like Audrey Hepburn.
